In Coudersport, Pennsylvania, the F.W. Knox Villa at Old Hickory reconstruction has started.

An abandoned Italianate house on the main street of Coudersport, Pennsylvania is currently being restored by a family with the intention of turning it into a venue or, more likely, a bed & breakfast. The F.W. Knox Villa, originally known as the Old Hickory Tavern, was built for Franklin W. Knox in 1880. The 5,070 square foot house reportedly had several owners before the Mauser family of Lehigh Valley purchased it in 2016 for $58,100, according to a report in the Potter Leader-Enterprise.
The house’s previous owners, the Rigas family, gutted it in the 1980s in order to convert it into a bed and breakfast. The plans were unsuccessful, and the structure was vacant for a while.
According to the Potter Leader-Enterprise, the home’s current owners plan to fix multiple broken windows, restore the side porch, and restore the roof to its previous state.
The structure contains two spiral staircases, multiple bay windows, and a 55-foot tower that overlooks Coudersport.
